JVSview is a JPEG2000 virtual slide viewer that works identically both in local storage and JPIP-based virtual slide viewing. Viewing in JVSview is based on on-demand image processing, which means that only the current requested view of the virtual slide is loaded into the computer's memory. Virtual slide image files can reside in a local storage (e.g., a hard drive or a CD/DVD), or in a remote storage which is accessed via the internet.
